क्लिंट इस्टवूड यांचा नविन चित्रपट "ग्रान टोरीनो ". ग्रान टोरीनो ह्या नावावरून हा चित्रपट गाड़ी विषई असेल असे वाटते परंतु हा चित्रपट "वॉल्ट कोवालस्की" या पोलिश आमेरिकन माणसाबद्दल आहे. वॉल्ट व्हियेतनाम युद्धातला सैनिक आहे. युद्धानंतर त्याने "फोर्ड" कारखान्यात नोकरी केली. नुकतीच त्याची पत्नी वारली आहे व तो एकटाच राहात आहे. मुलांशी फारसे जमत नसल्यामुळे त्यांच्याशी जुजबी संबंध आहेत.
वॉल्टच्या सभोवताली निरनिराळ्या देशातील लोक रहात आहेत. बाजूच्या कोरिअन कुटुंबातील लोक त्याच्याशी ओळख करण्याचा प्रयत्न करतात परंतु हा दुर्लक्ष करतो. कोरिअन कुटुंबात एक बहिण(सु), एक भाऊ (ताओ) त्यांची आई आणि आजी असे लोक आहेत.
एके दिवशी रात्री त्याच्या गँरेजमधून आवाज येतो म्हणून वॉल्ट बंदूक घेऊन जातो, परंतु चोर पळून जातो. काही दिवसात ताओला काही गुंड त्यांच्यात सामील करून घेऊ पहात असताना त्यांचे भांडण होते, व ते वॉल्टच्या घरासमोर येतात. वॉल्ट त्यांना बंदुकीच्या धाकाने पळवून लावतो. ताओला वाचावल्यामुळे परिसरातील सर्व कोरिअन लोक खाद्य पदार्थ व फुले आणून त्याच्या सोप्यामध्ये ठेवतात.
सु त्याला तिच्या घरी एका समारंभात घेऊन जाते. आणि त्याला चांगले चुंगले जेवायला मिळते. नंतर ताओ त्याची गाडी चोरण्याचा प्रयत्न काबुल करतो आणि त्याला पाच दिवस वॉल्ट सांगेल ते काम करण्याची शिक्षा मिळते. त्या पाच दिवसात वॉल्टला ताओचा कष्टाळू स्वभाव कळतो, आणि तो त्याला मदत करू लागतो.
त्याला अनेक कामे शिकवून तो बांधकामासाठी नोकरी मिळवून देण्याची तयारी करतो. आणि नोकरी मिळवून पण देतो. एक दिवस कामावरून परत येताना ती टोळी ताओला परत त्रास देते. याला वैतागून वॉल्ट त्या टोळीतील एकाला गाठून ठोक देतो आणि त्यांना ताओच्या परत वाटेस जाऊ नका असे बजावतो.
दुसर्याच दिवशी ती टोळी रात्री ताओच्या घरावर अंदाधुंद गोळीबार करते आणि नंतर सु व बलात्कार करतात. या घटनेमुळे ताओ भडकतो आणि वॉल्टच्या मदतीने टोळीवर प्रतिहल्ला करायचा विचार करतो. परंतु वॉल्ट त्याला शांत डोक्याने विचार करून योजना बनवायला सांगतो. आणि ऐन वेळी त्याला फसवून घरात कोंडतो. वॉल्ट एकटाच त्या टोळीवर बदला घ्यायला जातो. पुढील कथानक चित्रपटातच पाहायला हवे. शेवट अनपेक्षित आणि वेगळा वाटला.
Client Eastwood's latest movie Gran Torino. Though the name suggests it might be about a Car, the movie revolves around "Walt Kowalski" (Client Eastwood). He is a Korian War Veteran and has spent his remaining working life in Ford car assembly plant. Now retired, an grumpy man, staying alone in a Michigan neighborhood. Not gelling well with his children's families.
His immediate neighbors and a Hmong family. A shy Thao and his sister Sue. They are staying with their mother and grandmother. Thao's cousin is a gangster and wants to join Taho in his gang. His induction mission is to steal Walt's 1972 Gran Torino Sports car, which is Walt's prized item. Walt threatens and drives away Thao in his attempt.
On a later occasion Walt saves Thao from the gang in an attempt to protect his property with help of his rifle. Sue make friendship with Walt and invites him for a family function. Thao confesses his car stealing attempt and is made to work for Walt for 5 days. Impressed by him, Walt starts training his for a suitable job and gets him a job.
But the gang strikes back, shoots indiscriminately at Thao's house and rapes Sue. Thao is raging with anger wants to take revenge. Walt pacifies him and tells him to think and plan the attack with a cool head. On next day he fools Thao and locks him in his basement. Calls us Sue to tell her how to rescue Thao and goes ahead alone with the mission to the gang's house.
Remaining part of the story telling will be a spoiler, but the end is good and needs to be watched and enjoyed.
