मोड (Mod)

अरण्या महादेवन हिचे घड्याळ दुरुस्तीचे दुकान असते. त्याचप्रमाणे ती तिच्या आत्याकडे हॉटेल मध्ये काम करायला जात असते. वडील दारूच्या आहारी गेलेले असतात, आणि त्यांना किशोर कुमारच्या गाण्याच्या फार शौक असतो अरण्याने अजून लग्नाचा विचार केलेला नसतो. दक्षिण भारतात एका छोटाश्या गावात अरण्या राहत असते. एक दिवस तिच्या कडे एक तरुण घड्याळ दुरुस्त करायला येतो. त्याचे घड्याळ पाण्यात पडून खराब झालेले असते. पैसे देताना तो त्या नोटेचे एक ओरिगामी ची कला वापरून एक पक्षी करून देतो. तो बाकी काहीही बोलत नाही.

आता या तरुणाचा परिपाठ होतो, कि रोज तो पाण्यात पडलेले घड्याळ घेऊन यायचे आणि अरण्या कडे बसून ते घड्याळ दुरुस्त करायचे. रोज रोज हा तरुण येतो, त्यामुळे एक दिवस अरण्या ठरवते कि याच्याशी आज गप्पा मारून याची माहिती काढायची. तेव्हा तो तरुण सांगतो कि त्याचे नाव अन्डी आहे, आणि तो तिच्या शाळेत होता १०ब मध्ये तो शिकत होता. हे ऐकल्यावर अरण्या आठवून बघते, मग घरी असलेला शाळेतला फोटो शोधून काढते, त्यात अंड्य कोण होता ते शोधते. आता तिला खात्री वाटते कि हाच तो अंड्य आहे


आता अर्थातच अरण्याला अंड्य आवडू लागणे हे क्रमप्राप्त असतं. त्याप्रमाणे त्या दोघांचे भेटणे सुरु होते. कधी कधी रात्रभर अंड्य अरण्याच्या घराबाहेर झोपलेला आढळून येतो. अरण्याला हे वागणे काही समाजात नाही. पण प्रेमात पडलेल्या व्यक्तीला सगळेच गोड वाटते, त्याप्रमाणे अरण्या त्याकडे दुर्लक्ष करते. एका दिवस अंड्य बाजारात दिसतो, अरण्या त्याला खूप हाका मारते, पण अंड्य त्याकडे लक्षच देत नाही. जणू काही तो अरण्याला तो ओळखतच नाही अरण्य त्याचा पाठलाग करते आणि मग तिला दिसते कि अंड्य हा एका वेड्यांच्या इस्पितळात जातो आहे. आता तिला अंड्य च्या पूर्वायुष्याची नक्की काय भानगड आहे ते शोधून काढण्याची उत्सुकता लागते. ती घडलेल्या प्रसंगाबद्दल तिच्या आत्याशी बोलते. पण आत्या तिला समजावते. मग एक दिवस रात्री अंड्य अरण्याच्या घराबाहेर झोपलेला दिसतो. सकाळी उठल्यावर अरण्याला तो ओळखत नाही आणि त्याच्या दिशेने चालू लागतो. हे मात्र अरण्याला खूप अजब वाटते.

मग ती सहज म्हणून तिच्या शाळेत जाते तिथे गेल्यावर तिला शाळेतील शिक्षक भेटतात त्यांना ती अंड्य बद्दल विचारते. आणि ती जे ऐकते त्यानंतर तिला एक मोठाच धक्का बसतो. तिचे शिक्षक सांगतात कि अंडी हा १० वर्षापूर्वीच एका अपघातात मारण पावला आहे. मग मात्र अरण्या हा अंड्य नक्की कोण आहे याचा शोध घ्यायला निघते. तिला तिच्या शोधत नक्की काय सापडते हे बघा "मोड" या सिनेमात.

सिनेमा खूपच चांगला आहे. सुरवातीला हा सिनेमा खूपच हळू हळू पुढे सरकतो. पहिला तास इतका कंटाळा आला कि आता हा सिनेमा बंद करू आणि उरलेला उद्या बघू अशी चर्चा देखील केली. पण तो जो "मोड" अचानक आला सिनेमात त्याने मात्र संपूर्ण सिनेमा संपे पर्यंत आम्हाला एकाच जागी खिळवून ठेवू शकला. सिनेमातील गाणी पण चांगली आहेत. सगळ्यांची कामे पण खूप छान आहे. सिनेमा नक्की कुठे वळण घेतोय हे मात्र खूप उशिरा पर्यंत समाजात नाहि. अर्थात या सिनेमाला आयएमडीबी वर खूप जास्त स्टार्स नाहीत. पण सिनेमा बघावाच असा आहे.

Aranya Mahadevan is a busy young girl who runs a watch maintenance shop as well as working at a restaurant part time. Her father is alcoholic but a good singer and a big fan of Kishor Kumar. Aranya has not thought of marriage yet. She is staying in a small town. Her father also hangs out around, but is not allowed in the house. She has her morning coffee with her dad watching a morning train arrive every day.  

One day a young man comes to the shop with a watch which was wet. She repairs it and the guy gives a 100 rupee note folded in a origami swan. He does not speak much and leaves. After that day, this becomes a every day routine. He comes with the same watch soaked in water, get it cleaned and pays 100 rupee folded in origami swan. After few days Aranya decides to talk to him. The name of this person is Andy and he was her classmate in the school. Aranya takes out old schools class photo to verify the fact and finds Andy in that.

Andy continues his routine and slowly Aranya starts to look forward to his visit to the shop. His behavior is bit strange, but Aranya is trying to understand him. He takes her to a near by waterfall. But she was surely falling for him. One day she saw Andy in the market, she calls him out, but he does not even look back and just gets into a bus and leaves. Anranya follows the bus on her bike and she was surprised to see him enter a mental hospital. He certainly does not look like a patient there. Now she is intrigued to find more about him and his past life. She discuses this with her Aunt, but she convinces her that he might be visiting some friend. Once, one morning she finds him sleeping outside her house, but this time instead waking inside the house, he again just starts walking without even recognizing Aranya. This totally surprises Aranya.

Now she visits her old school and learns that Andy passed away in an accident 10 years back. This was certainly a shock of her life. She decides to find out what exactly happening with this person who claims to be Andy. Who is this person? What did she find out, watch in the Hindi movie "Mod".

We enjoyed the movie. It is really interesting, even though it is very slow in the beginning. At one point, we decided to stop it and watch it later, but the story line took a turn and and we got so engrossed in the movie, and we did not realize when the reminder half got over. Both, the acting and the songs are good. The story line it totally unpredictable. Even though Imdb rating does not seem to be high, we would really recommend this one.

तू ही रे (Tu Hi Re)

नंदिनी एका खेड्यात राहण्याऱ्या खूप मोठ्या कुटुंबातील वाढलेली मुलगी असते. तिचे सिद्धार्थ नावाच्या शहरात वाढलेल्या इंजिनियरशी लग्न ठरते. लग्नाच्या पहिल्या रात्री नंदिनी सांगते कि तिला खरतर हे लग्न करायचे नव्हते कारण तिला लव-मॅरेज करायचे होते. पण आता लग्न झालय त्यामुळे जसा काय नवरा असेल तो तिने पत्करला आहे.

नंदिनी आणि सिद्धार्थ या दोघांना एक पीहू नावाची मुलगी असते. सिद्धार्थ एका प्रायव्हेट कंपनी  नोकरी करत असतो. तो इंजिनियर असतो. नंदिनी एका कंपनी मध्ये रिसेप्शिनस्टची नोकरी करत असते. दोघांचे एकमेकांवर निरतिशय प्रेम असते. या तिघांचे कुटुंब एकदम मजेत जगत असते. सिद्धार्थला कंपनी मध्ये एक कॉन्ट्रॅक्ट मिळवायचा असतो, पण तो कॉन्ट्रॅक्ट घेण्यासाठी जो मनुष्य येतो त्याला बघून सिद्धार्थ चपापतो कंपनीसाठी डील करण्याऐवजी हा मनुष्य सिद्धार्थ बरोबर डील करतो कि, तू नंदिनीला ठेवतोय त्याहीपेक्षा जास्त मी नंदिनीला सुखी ठेवीन. अर्थातच सिद्धार्थ त्याला काही बोलत नाही. घरी पण नंदिनी पासून हे घडलेले लपवून ठेवतो.

सिद्धार्थला त्या मनुष्याने दिलेली ऑफर खूप मानसिक त्रास देत असते. त्याचा परिणाम नंदिनी आणि सिद्धार्थच्या संबंधांवर होतो. दोघांची उगाचच वादावादी होते, सिद्धार्थ नंदिनीवर रागवतो. हे सगळे झाल्यावर नंदिनीला शंका येते कि सिद्धार्थ तिच्या पासून काहीतरी लपवून ठेवतोय. त्यात भर म्हणून पोस्टाने एक पाकीट येते. त्यात सिद्धार्थचे लग्न झालेले फोटो नंदिनीला सापडतात. ते बघून नंदिनी खूपच अस्वथ होते. आणि आता हे नक्की काय प्रकरण आहे हे शोधून काढायचे ठरवते. अर्थातच हे सगळे ती सिद्धार्थच्या अपरोक्ष करत असते. सिद्धार्थला याबद्दल काहीच कल्पना नसते.

सगळ्यात प्रथम नंदिनी सिद्धार्थचा खूप जवळचा मित्र प्रसादला भेटते. प्रसाद तिला सुरवातीला सांगण्याची टाळमटाळ करतो. पण नंदिनी जेव्हा त्याला पोस्टाने आलेले फोटो दाखवते, तेव्हा मात्र तो खोटे बोलू शकत नाही. तो नंदिनीला सगळी गोष्ट सांगायचे काबुल करतो, जेणे करून नंदिनीच्या मनात कुठलीही शंका राहणार नाही. आता नक्की या गोष्टीमध्ये काय असते, त्या फोटोमध्ये असलेले सिद्धार्थचे लग्न ही काय भानगड आहे हे बघा "तू ही रे" मधे. 

सिनेमा चांगला आहे. पण सुरवातीचे सिद्धार्थ आणि नंदिनीचे प्रेम दाखवून स्टोरी खूप लांबवली आहे असे वाटले. त्यात खूप जास्त वेळ गेला आहे. त्याचप्रमाणे पिहुचे बरेच संवाद फारच आगावू वाटतात सिनेमात प्रेमाचा त्रिकोण आहे हे लवकरच उघड होते. पण त्याचा शेवट नक्की कसा होतोय हे बघण्याची उत्सुकता मात्र लागून राहते. सिनेमाचा शेवट अपेक्षित असाच आहे. पण क्लायमॅक्स जवळ आल्यावर नक्की काय शेवट असेल अशी उत्सुकता वाटते. सिनेमा बघावाच असे काही नाही, पण बघितल्यास फार पश्चाताप होणार नाही. सई ताम्हणकर खूपच चांगली दिसतेय तिने काम पण चांगले केलय. अर्थात भैरवीच्या भूमिकेत तेजस्विनी पंडित चांगली दिसतेय. 

हा सिनेमा बघितला असल्यास किंवा इतर काही प्रतिक्रिया असल्यास  द्याव्या. 

Nandini is a girl from a rich family in a village. She gets married to Sidhharth, who is a city guy and an engineer. First chance she gets to talk to him, she tells him that she intended to love someone, and then marry the same person, but now that she is married to him, she will be very faithful to him.

Fast forward eight years, now Nandini and Sidhharth have a daughter called Pihu. Shdhharth has become engineering manager in a private company. Nandini is also working as a receptionist in another company. Both Nandini and Sidhharth are totally in love with each other and the the family of three is very happy family. 

One day, when Sidhharth reaches office, he meets a high official. Sidhharth looked shocked to see him, but pretends nothing has happened. The person is suppose to sign a very big deal with the company. He offers Sidhharth to sign the contract on condition that Sidhharth should let him take care of Nandini, and he will do it in much better way. Sidhharth keeps quiet and does not even mentions this to Nandini.

Sidhharth is very disturbed by the offer and his behavior changes at home with family. Him and Nandini have frequent arguments without much reason. At that point Nandini starts thinking there is something going on in Sidhharth's mind, which he is not talking out. To add fuel to this suspicion Nandini receives a envelop with photographs showing Sidhharth getting married. This now causes turmoil in Nandini's mind. She decides to find out the truth behind all this, without confronting Sidhharth. Sidhharth is totally unaware of Nandini's struggle. 

Nandini starts with Prasad, who is Sidhharth best friend and knows him for years. He was also there in one of the photos that Nandini received. Prasad denies any knowledge of this, but when Nandini confronts him with the photographs, he agrees to tell her everything in detail, so that there is no confusion in her mind. Now telling you what was the incidences that Prasad narrates would be spoiler and should be watched in the movie "Tu hi re".

Cinema is good. But goes bit slow while Sidhharth and Nandini's happy married life is continuing. But later catches some good pace. Pihu seems to be over smart and bit of over acting. The love triangle is known but still remains interesting for a while. Close to climax, the story line is clear but continues well till the end. Both Sai Tamhankar and Tejaswini Pandit are looking good and acted well. Won't recommend movie as must watch but a good pass time.

मितवा (Mitwa)

 शिवम सारंग हा बऱ्याच हॉटेल्स आणि पब्जचा मालक असतो. त्याचा एक दोष म्हणजे त्याला सुंदर मुलगी दिसली कि  तिच्यावर फिदा होतो. शिवम सारंग ची अवनी नावाची एक बिसिनेस पार्टनर असते. अवनी न खरा तर शिवम खूप आवडत असतो, पण शिवमचे लग्न, बंधन, जबाबदारी यावर विश्वास नसतो त्यामुळे तो अवनी बरोबर खूप जवळची मैत्रीण यापेक्षा जास्त काही संबध ठेवू इच्छित नाही. आणि शिवम सारंग खूप श्रीमंत असल्याने त्याच्यावर सगळ्याच मुलींचा तो लाडका असतो.

त्याच्या नवीन हॉटेल मध्ये परदेशी लोकांबरोबर काही बिसिनेस डील होणार असते, आणि त्यानुसार नवीन व्यवसायात काही लोकांची भारती सुरु असते. त्यासाठी मुलाखत द्यायला म्हणून नंदिनी प्रभू येते. नंदिनीला बघाता क्षणीच शिवम सारंग तिच्या प्रेमात पडतो. नंदिनीला नोकरीवर घेतो, पण नंदिनीची अट असते कि ती संध्याकाळी ५ नंतर काम करणार नाही. पण कामाचे स्वरूप असे असते कि तिला संध्याकाळी यायला हवे असे अवनीचे मत असते. नंदिनी म्हणते कि तिला यायला जमणार नाही, आणि त्यामुळे मला नोकरी नकोय. पण शिवम म्हणतो कि ठीक आहे तरीही तुला मी घेइन. अवनी खूप खुश नसते, पण शिवम पुढे तिचे काही चालत नाहि. शिवम काही न काही कारण काढून नंदिनीच्या जवळ जाण्याचा प्रयत्न करतो. आणि मग तो त्यात यशस्वी देखील होतो. अवनीला दोघांचे हे इतके जवळ येणे खूप आवडत नाही. पण अवनीचे शिवमवर खूप प्रेम असते त्यामुळे ती सगळे सहन करते.

नंदिनी आणि शिवम दोघांचे असे ठरलेले असते कि फक्त मैत्री करायची त्यापुढे काही कामित्मेंत नाही. पण शिवम  नंदिनीच्या इतक्या प्रेमात पडतो कि तो शेवटी तिला लग्नाची मागणी घालतो. पण नंदिनी धुडकाऊन लावते. याचा परिणाम म्हणून तो एक दिवस स्वताला खोलीत कोंडून घेतो. नंदिनीला खूप काळजी युक्त भीती वाटते, ती त्याला भेटायला जाते आणि शेवटी त्याला स्वताचा भूतकाळ सांगते आणि सांगते कि ती लग्न करेल पण २४ तासातील २ तास ती अश्विनला देइल. हा अश्विन कोण आणि नंदिनी अश्विन साठी दिवसातले दोन तास का देऊ इच्छिते? शिवमला या अटीचा काय त्रास होतो का?  या प्रश्नांची उत्तरे बघा "मितवा" या सिनेमात.

सिनेमा बऱ्यापैकी कंटाळवाणा आहे. सिनेमात दोन-तीन गाणी आहेत. पण फार श्रवणीय आहे असे नाही. एक-दोन वेगवेगळ्या सिनेमांचे मिश्रण करून हा सिनेमा तयार केलाय अस वाटले.



Sivam Sarang is a rich businessman who owns many hotels and pubs. He is a playboy and falls for every beautiful girl he meets. Avani is Shivam's business partner. Avani loves Shivam, but Shivam does not believe in marriage and related responsibilities. So he always looks at Avani as best friends but nothing more than that. Since Shivam is good looking and rich, he has a huge fan followers of girls. 

His hotel has got into a big deal with a international group so he is buy recruiting staff for his hotel. Nandini Prabhu is one of the candidates for interview and Shivam falls for her at the first sight. Shivam immediately hires her, even though she puts a condition that she can not work second shift any time. Nandini frankly tells, that she needs this job desperately, but still she cannot accept the job, if the condition of second shift can not be relaxed. Shivam overrules Avani's objection to this condition and agrees to hire Nandini irrespective. After Nandini was hired, Shivam tries very hard and ultimately was successful to become friends with Nandini. This pains Avani a lot, but she accepts this, due to her love for Shivam. 

Nandini accepts Shivam's friendship on the condition that they will only remain only friends and nothing more.  Shivam inititally agrees, but at some point he was not able to control himself and proposes Nandini. Nandini ruthlessly denies his proposal. Shivam locks himself in the room and Nandini gets worried about him. Finally she meet him and explains him the whole background and accepts to marry him on the condition that after marriage Shivam will permit her two hours per day to be spent with Ashwin and Shivam will never try to invade those two hours. Who is this Ashwin and why Nandini has to commit those two hours to him needs to be watched in the Marathi movie "Mitawa".

The movie is boring and the songs are not that good. The story line seems to be mixture of a few popular movies. If you really love Swapnil Joshi, watch it on you own risk and let us know your views if you have watched it.

काकस्पर्श - एक विलक्षण प्रेमकहाणी

या सिनेमाची गोष्ट आहे स्वातंत्र पूर्व काळातील. सिनेमा हरी दामले आणि त्याच्या कुटुंबियां भोवताली व त्यांच्या आयुष्यात घडणाऱ्या गोष्टींबद्दल आहे. बहुतेक सिनेमा हा फ्लॅशबॅक मधेच आहे. आई-वडिलांचे निधन झाल्यानंतर, हरी दामले हा दामले कुटुंबियाचा कर्ता पुरुष असतो. पत्नी तारा, दोन मुली, एक मुलगा संकर्षण असा त्याचा परिवार असतो. घरात वकिली शिकणारा भाऊ महादेव, विधवा बहिण, नमुआत्या असा मोठा परिवार असतो. कोकणात बरीच जमीन आणि बागायत असते. हरी दामले याचा गावात देखील बराच मान असतो. तो तसा नवमतवादि असतो. नवनवीन संकल्पना तो उचलून धरत असतो, बरेचदा इतर लोकांचा रोष ओढवून देखील. हरीचा एक खूप जिवलग मित्र असतो, बळवंत फडके. हा सदैव देशाला स्वातंत्र कसे मिळेल याकरिता काम करत असतो. याच गावात उपाध्ये नावाचा एक ब्राह्मण असतो, ज्याचे हरी दामले बरोबर बरेच मतभेद असतात. शिवाय उपाध्ये हा एक अतिशय कर्मठ आणि जुन्या चालीरीती न सोडणारा, असा ब्राह्मण असतो.

वकिली शिकणारा भाऊ महादेव हा मुंबईला शिकत असतो. आता महादेव लग्नाचा झाला असल्याने, हरीदादा त्याच्या साठी स्थळ शोधतात. बळवंतच्या मध्यस्थीने, महादेवसाठी एक उत्तम स्थळ मिळते. मुलीचे नाव दुर्गा, दुर्गा चुणचुणीत, हुशार आणि चांगल्या गळ्याची, गोड गाणी म्हणणारी  असते. लग्न व्यवस्थित पार पडते. मुलगी वयात आलेली नसते, त्यामुळे अजून महादेव आणि दुर्गा यांचा तसा संसार सुरु झालेला नसतो. त्यात महादेवची परीक्षा जवळ येते त्यामुळे तो मुंबईला प्रयाण करतो. दुर्गा, जिचे नाव आता महादेवने उमा ठेवलेले असते, ती दामलेंच्या घरात रुळते. थोड्याच दिवसात उमा वयात येते, त्यानिमित्त्याने करण्यात येणाऱ्या गर्भादान / फलसंशोधन सोहळ्यासाठी महादेवला पाचारण करण्यात येते. महादेव मुंबईहून येतो खरा, पण त्याची तब्येत खूपच बिघडलेली असते. पूजेला देखील तो ग्लानीत असतो. त्याच दिवशी पहिल्या रात्री, उमाच्या जवळ पलंगावर त्याचे प्राणोत्क्रमण होते.

महादेवच्या मृत्यूने सगळ्या घरावर शोककळा पसरते. उमाच्या दु:खाला पारावार उरत नाही. १० व्या दिवशी पिंडदान करण्यासाठी हरी आणि गावातील इतर ब्राह्मण नदीकाठी जातात. परंतु पिंडाला कावळा शिवत नाही. सगळे लोक म्हणायला लागतात कि दर्भाचा कावळा करून पिंडाला शिवावावा, ही एकच शास्त्रात सांगितलेली पळवाट आहे. पण हरीदादाला ते मान्य नसते. हरी पिंडाच्या जवळ जाऊन काही तरी म्हणतो आणि त्याबरोबर पिंडाला कावळा शिवतो. आता दहा दिवस झाल्याने, उमाला सोवळी करण्याचा घाट घातला जातो. उमा खूप रडते, प्रतिकार करते, पण तिचे कोणी ऐकत नाही. नमुआत्या आणि तारा तिला जबरदस्तीने, नाव्ह्याच्या समोर देऊन बसवतात, तितक्यात हरीदादा पिंडदान करून परत येतो. घरातील प्रसंग बघून तो रागावतो आणि म्हणतो की उमाचे केस कापले जाणार नाहीत. गावातील सगळे लोक खूप टीका करतात. सगळ्या ब्राह्मण सभेमधून याचा प्रतिकार केला जातो. दामलेंच्या घरावर बहिष्कार टाकला जातो. पण तरीही हरी उमाला संरक्षण करण्यास मागेपुढे बघत नाही.

घरातील लोकांना हरीचे हे वागणे आवडत नाही, पण त्याला कोणी प्रत्यक्ष दर्शी विरोध करू शकत नाही. हरीला उमा आवडते आणि हरी त्यामुळेच उमाचे रक्षण करतो असे बरेच लोक बोलू लागतात. त्यात हरीची बायको तारा ही आजारी पडते. तारा आजारी पडल्यावर उमा घरातील सगळी जबाबदारी उचलते. अंथरुणावर खिळल्यावर ताराला देखील उमा आणि हरीच्या संबधाबद्दल शंका येऊ लागते. त्यातच तिचे निधन होते. मृत्युशय्येवर असताना, ती हरीला उमाशी लग्न करण्याचा सल्ला देते. पण हरी तसे करत नाही. गावातील लोकांच्या काहीबाही बोलण्यावर पडदा पडावा म्हणून, हरी त्याच्या मुलाचे लग्न करून देतो व घरात दुसरी बाई आल्याने, लोकांच्या वाईट बोलण्याला पट्टी बसते.  तर असे दिवस जात असताने, उमाच्या मनाला खूप यातना होत असतात, तिला हे आयुष्य नकोसे होते आणि ती जेवण करणे सोडते. तिच्या मरणासन्न अवस्थेत हरी तिच्या बोलतो, पिंडदानाच्या वेळेस बोललेले सत्य उमास सांगतो. ते सत्य काय असते, उमा आणि हरीच्या मनात एकमेकांबद्दल काय भावना असतात हे बघा "काकस्पर्श" या सिनेमामध्ये.

सिनेमा खूप सुंदर आहे. तसे बघितले तर अगदी सामान्य गोष्ट खूप सुंदर रीतीने सांगण्यात आली आहे. सिनेमा बघितल्यावर खरोखरच "एक विलक्षण प्रेमकहाणी" असे का म्हटले आहे ते कळते. सगळे कलाकार उत्तम आहेत. एकूण सेट, आणि चित्रण बघून आपण खरोखरच पूर्वीच्या काळातील कोकणात जातो. सिनेमा बघावा असाच आहे. पूर्वीच्या तरुण विधवा स्त्रीच्या व्यथा बघून जीव गलबलतो. सगळे कलाकार उत्तम. सिनेमाचा शेवट खूपच अनपेक्षित आहे. सिनेमात लहान मुलांनी बघू नये असा एकही सीन नाही, पण सिनेमा थोडा गंभीर आहे त्यामुळे लहान मुलांबरोबर न बघितलेला बरा.

This movie story line is set in pre-independent India. This is a story of Hari Damale and his family. Most of the story is in flashback. Hari Damale is taking care of his family after his parents, as they die early. His family consists of his wife Tara, two daughters and one son Sankarshan, his brother Mahadev who is studying law in Mumbai, and his widow sister, Namuatya. He owns farm land and orchards in konkan. He is well respected person in the village. He is a forward thinking person and pushes for change, at times even with some resistance from others. Balavant Phadake is his best friend. Balavant is involved actively in freedom fight. Another person in the village Upadhyay is not in good terms with Hari, reason being his orthodox and ritual nature. Upadhyay does not like Hari's modern thinking.

Mahadev, his brother is pursuing his law degree in Mumbai. Hari decides to get his brother married, since Mahadev has reached right age for marriage. Balavant gets a very good contact for the same. Durga is a bright young girl in his distant relation. Durga also knows singing and he thinks that Durga and Mahadev are perfect match. The marriage goes on well, he names Durga as Uma. Mahadev returns to Mumbai alone, since Durga is young yet, she is not sent with her. Mahadev also needs to concentrate on his exams and studies. Uma is getting used to the new place and people. She attains puberty and a ritual of Garbhadaan is planned. Mahadev has to be present for the same and he is called from Mumbai. Mahadev returns form Mumbai but with high fever. He manages to take part in the rituals, but during night his health deteriorates and he dies. 

Mahadev's death is a big shock for the whole family. Uma is the biggest victim. The rituals take place according to the traditions. In the Pindadaan ritual, Hari and others wait for long time for crows to touch the Pinda. There are rituals to avoid this ritual, but Hari is not in favor of making a false grass crow to do away with. Finally Hari goes to scene and promises something, and within few minutes crows come to eat the Pinda. At home, the ritual of Uma has to begin. Her head has to be shaved off as a widow. Namuatya is forcing Uma to shave her head, with help of a barber. Fortunately Hari returns in time, and saves Uma from this. He also announces that Uma will not have to shave her head. This attracts lot of criticism in the village, since this is not according to custom of the times. The village Brahman Sabha decides to stop any transactions with Hari's household.

Hari's family is disturbed, but they are not in a position to resist Hari. People started saying that Hari is in love with Uma and that is the reason he is protecting her. After few months of this tension, Tara gets sick. Uma is mature lady now and she really takes care of the house well. Tara too starts doubting the relationship between Hari and Uma. In her final moments, Tara requests Hari to marry Uma after her death, but Hari refuses. After Tara's death, Hari quickly gets his sone married, so that another lady comes to the house. This avoids people doubting his and Uma's relationships. But all these tense years in Uma's life take toll on her mental health. She is really fed up with her life and decides to die by stopping food. She gets really weak, and finally in those moments Hari tells her the reason he has been behaving like that, and what was the promise he made at the time on Pindadaan. The delicate relationship between Hari and uma is really shown very well in Kaaksparsha.

This movie is done very well with a very simple story. This is really a unusual love story. All the actors have done a very good job. The whole productions and set locations are really good and well matching with the story line and Konkan of the times. This a must watch movie and touching because of the problems ladies faced during that times. The movie ends in a very unexpected way. Movie is children friendly but could be bit taxing due to serious story line.

तनु वेड्स मनु (Tanu weds Manu)

मनोज शर्मा हा इंग्लंड मध्ये राहणारा एक भारतीय डॉक्टर असतो. इंग्लंड मध्ये राहून देखील हा मानाने भारतीयच असतो. लग्न करण्यासाठी म्हणून तो भारतात येतो. याच्या घरी एक पपी नावाचा त्याच्या केयरटेकर + मित्र देखील राहत असतो. मुली बघायला म्हणून याचे आई-वडील, पपी, आणि मनोज उर्फ मनु, कानपूरला जातात. मुलीच्या घरात अगदी आनंदी आनंद असतो, घरातील सगळे लोक चांगले असतात पण मुलगी कुठेच दिसत नाही. मुलीच्या आईचे असे म्हणणे असते कि मुलाला व मुलीला एकत्र भेटू द्या. त्या दोघांना भेटायला एका खोलीत नेतात. तिथे, मुलगी तनुजा ही डोक्यावर पदर घेऊन असते, ज्यातून तिचा काहीच चेहरा दिसत नसतो. काय बोलावे हे मनुला समजत नाही पण तो थोडी प्रस्तावना करतो, पण तनुजा उर्फ तनु कडून काहीच प्रतिसाद येत नाही. हिला नक्की काय झाले हे बघण्याकरता म्हणून तो तिच्या जवळ जातो तर ती झोपली असते तो ती झोपली असतानाच तिचा फोटो काढतो आणि ठरवतो की हिच्याशीच लग्न करायचे. दोन्ही घरातील लोक खूप खुश होतात. या आनंदात दोन्ही कुटुंब वैष्णव देवीला जायचे ठरवतात. आणि त्या प्रवासात तनु सांगते की तिचे आधीच एका मुलाबरोबर लग्न करण्याचे ठरवले आहे त्यामुळे मनुने लग्नाला नकार द्यावा. मनुला समजत नाही या गोंधळातून बाहेर कसे पडावे. पण शेवटी पापी चा सल्ला घेऊन तो स्वत:च्या वडिलांना सांगतो आणि शेवटी ते लग्न मोडते. मग अजून मुलींचा शोध सुरु होतो. पण प्रत्येक मुलीमध्ये काहीना काही दोष असतो. आता लग्न न करता इंग्लंडला जावे लागणार असे मनुला वाटू लागते.

पण त्याच दरम्यान त्याचा मित्राचा जस्सीचा फोन येतो की त्याचे लग्न ठरले आहे, व त्यासाठी मनुने त्याच्या घरी पंजाबला जावे. मनु व पापी तेथे जातात. जस्सीची होणारी बायको पायल ही नेमकी तनुची मैत्रीण असते. पायालला जेव्हा कळते की मनु, तनुच्या प्रेमात वेडा झालाय, तेव्हा ती तनु ला समजावण्याचा प्रयत्न करते की तिने तिच्या बॉयफ्रेंड (राजा) चा नाद सोडून द्यावा. व मनु शी लग्न करावे. पण तनु राजाच्या प्रेमात वेडी झालेली असते त्यामुळे ती ते काही ऐकत नाही. कर्मधर्म संयोगाने राजा आणि मनु ची ओळख निघते. पुढे राजाचे आणि तनुचे काय होते, अर्थात मनुचे तनुशी लग्न होते हे सिनेमाच्या नावावरून ओळखण्यासारखेच आहे.

सिनेमा अत्यंत टुकार आहे. कंगना रानौतचा मेकअप, कपडे जरा विचित्र वाटतात आणि एकूण कथा अगदीच कंटाळवाणी आहे. सिनेमा बघितला नाही तर काहीही बिघडणार नाही. पण माधवन सारखा कलाकार या सिनेमात वाया गेला असे मात्र निश्चित वाटते.

Manoj Sharma aka Manu is a Indian doctor settled in England. I want to get married to an India girl so he visits India. His parents have lined up a few prospective girls for him to see. They also have a caretaker called Pappi, who is like brother to Manu. They all go to Kanpur to see a girl The girl has a huge joint family. The family is very good, but the girl is not at all seen around. The girl's mother suggests that let the girl and boy meet alone and talk. So Manu is taken to the room where Tanuja aka Tanu is sitting with her face covered with her long scarf. Manu is not able to see her face and is confused how to start talking. He tries to initiate some discussion but she does not respond. Finally to check out what really is happening, he approaches near her and find out that she is fast asleep. He takes a photo of her in his mobile and decides to marry her.

When both the families hear from Manu his consent, they are all very happy. They decide to celebrate this by visiting Vaishav Devi temple. But on the way to Vaishnav Devi Tanu tells Manu that she has always committed to a boy and Manu should reject her. Now Manu is totally confused. But finally after discussing with Pappi Manu tells his father what has happened. They break up the proposal and Manu is back for bride search. He v isits several girls but there is always some rejection point. Finally he decides that it is not going to work and he should go back to England and try after few more months. 

As he starts preparing for his travel, he receives a phone form his best friend Jassi, telling he is getting married soon and Manu should come and attend the ceremonies. Manu agrees to it and goes to Punjab with Pappi. Jassi is getting married to Payal and as destiny has it, Tanu is Payal's best friend and Tanu is there with her. Payal learns that Manu is in deep love with Tanu. She tries to talk it over to Tanu, explaining that Manu is much better match for her than her boyfriend Raja, and she should leave Raja and get married with Manu. But Tanu is mad in love with Raja. Another typical twist in the movie is Manu and Raja have already met some time ago and knew each other. We know form the title that Tanu weds Manu but what exacly happens between him and Raja needs to be watched in the movie.

The movie is a typical Masala movie and many many not really enjoy it. Kangana Ranaut has a bit weird in this movie, story line os not that interesting, so you are not going to miss much by not watching the movie. Madhavan has wasted his time in acting in a movie like this.

आय हॅव फाऊंड इट - I have found it (kandukondain kandukondain)

सौम्या, मीनाक्षी, कमला अश्या तिघी बहिणी, त्यांची आई पद्मा आणि अंथरुणाला खिळलेले आजोबा यांच्या बरोबर तामिळनाडू मधील एका छोट्याश्या गावात राहत असतात. सौम्या हि सगळ्यात मोठी बहिण आजोबांची प्रॉपर्टी व्यवस्थित सांभाळत असते. आजोबा खूप श्रीमंत असतात. त्यांचे खूप मोठे घर असते, त्यांनी एक खूप सुंदर देऊळ देखील बांधले असते, शिवाय त्यांची एक मोठी शिक्षणसंस्था असते. सौम्या तिथेच प्रिन्सिपॉल म्हणून काम बघत असते. मीनाक्षीचे शिक्षण झालेले असते आणि तिला गाण्याची आवड असते. कमला अजून शाळेत जात असते. पद्मा म्हणजे या तिघींच्या आईने तिच्या वडिलांच्या इच्छेविरुध्ध पळून जाऊन लग्न केलेले असते. त्यामुळे वडिलांचा तिच्यावर राग असतो. पद्माला एक भाऊ असतो साई, तो अमेरिकेत असतो. वडिलांची तब्येत बिघडते, भाऊ यायला नकार देतो , तेव्हा पद्मा सगळे विसरून वडिलांची सेवा करायला घरी येते. वडिलांची तब्येत इतकी बिघडते, कि ते नीट बोलू देखील शकत नाहीत. त्यामुळे त्यांचा पद्मावरील राग गेला आहे हे समजायला मार्ग नसतो.

तर अश्या कुटुंबामध्ये, सौम्याचे एकदा लग्न ठरते. मुलगा अमेरिकेचा असतो. साखरपुडा करण्यासाठी तो येत असताना, तो आत्म्यहत्या करतो. सगळ्यांना वाटते, की हिच्याशी लग्न ठरले म्हणूनच त्याने आत्म्यहत्या केली. त्यानंतर जी पण मुलं हिला बघायला येतात त्यांना काहीना काही तरी होते. त्यामुळे हिच्या पत्रिकेत काहीतरी ग्रह वाईट आहेत, त्यामुळे हिचे लग्न ठरत नाही असा आईचा ग्रह झालेला असतो. त्यावरून जेव्हा जेव्हा हिला बघायला मुलं येतात आणि त्यांची बोलणी फिसकटतात तेव्हा तेव्हा आई हिच्या नशिबाबद्दल बोलते.  एकदा मुलगा बघायला येणार म्हणून सौम्या तयार होते, आणि दार उघडते तर मनोहर म्हणून एक सिनेमा स्क्रिप्ट लिहिणारा, घर शुटींग करायला देणार का म्हणून विचारायला येतो. यांना वाटते की हाच मुलगा आहे. आणि त्या कन्फुजन मध्ये मनोहरला समजते कि हिचे लग्न ठरत नाहीये. पण पहिल्या भेटीतच त्याला सौम्या आवडली असते. याचे वडील खूप श्रीमंत असतात त्यांचा मोठा उद्योग असतो. त्यांना मनोहर सिनेमात काम करतो आहे हे आवडत नसते. पण मनोहरला तेच आवडते आणि तो वडिलांच्या उद्योगात मदत करत नाही. तो आई-वडिलांना सांगतो कि त्याला सौम्याशी लग्न करायचे आहे पण ते नकार देतात. मग तो ठरवतो कि तो त्याचा पहिला सिनेमा काढेल आणि मगच सौम्याशी लग्न करेल. सौम्याला पण तो आवडू लागतो.

असे दिवस जात असताना, त्यांच्या देवळात एक कार्यक्रम असतो, तो कार्यक्रम बघायला बरेच लोक येतात. तिथेच मेजर बाला पण येतो. याचा एक पाय तुटलेला असतो. श्रीलंकेच्या पीस फोर्स मध्ये गेला असताना त्याचा पाय एका बॉम्बवर पडतो व त्याचा पाय तुटतो. मेजर बालाला मीनाक्षी खूप आवडते कारण तिचे गाणे खूप सुंदर असते. पण मीनाक्षीला बाला आवडत नाही अर्थात तिला त्याच्या बद्दल कणव असते. मीनाक्षीच्या प्रेमाखातर बाला दारू सोडतो, व्यायाम करायला लागतो. बाला मीनाक्षीला गाणं पुढे शिकण्यासाठी प्रोत्साहन देतो. मीनाक्षीला भारती नावाच्या कवीच्या कविता खूप आवडत असतात ती त्याच्या कविता पद्यात खूप सुंदर म्हणते. मिनाक्षिनी ठरवले असते की ती मुलगा बघून लग्न करणार नाही तर तिचे ज्याच्यावर प्रेम होईल त्याच्याबरोबर ती लग्न करेल. तश्यातच तिला श्रीकांत भेटतो, ह्याचा चीट फंडचा उद्योग असतो. हा दिसायला खूप गोजिरवाणा, बोलायला खूप गोड असतो. त्यामुळे मीनाक्षी त्याच्या प्रेमात पडते. हे बघून बालाला खरंतर खूप दुख होते, पण तो ते मनात ठेवतो आणि विचार करतो कि मीनाक्षीपेक्षा आपण खूप मोठे आहोत त्यामुळे मीनाक्षीने दुसऱ्या मुलाबरोबर लग्न केले तरी हरकत नाही. तिच्या आवाजावर म्हणजे तिचे गाणे ऐकत आपण आयुष्य काढू शकू.

पण नियतीच्या मनात काहीतरी वेगळेच असते. त्यांचे आजोबा मरण पावतात. मरण्यापूर्वी ते सारखे एका पेटीकडे हात दाखवत असतात आणि ती उघडा असे सांगत असतात. पण कोणीच त्यांच्या बोलण्याकडे लक्ष देत नाहीत. त्यांना त्यांच्या अमेरिकेतील मुलाला भेटण्याची खूप इच्छा असते, त्यामुळे ते तेच बोलत आहेत असे सगळ्यांना वाटते आणि त्यांच्या इच्छेकडे दुर्लक्ष केले जाते. वडील गेल्यावर त्यांचा मुलगा साई, बायकोबरोबर परत येतो मग मृत्युपत्राची शोधाशोध सुरु होते. ते मृत्युपत्र कुठे असते व त्यात काय लिहिलेले असते ? सौम्याला तिचा मनोहर मिळतो का ? मीनाक्षीचे कोणाबरोबर लग्न होते ? तिच्या गाण्याचे पुढे काय होते? या सगळ्या सगळ्या प्रश्नांची उत्तरे "I have found it " मध्ये आहेत.

सिनेमा तमिळ आहे. मला तमिळ येत नाही पण तरीही सबटायटल लावून बघितला. सिनेमा मस्तच आहे. त्याची स्टोरी एकदमच समजून येणारी आहे. पण तरीही सिनेमा बघायला छान वाटते. मुख्य तब्बू आणि ऐश्वर्या या दोघी असल्याने हा सिनेमा बघावासा वाटतो. सिनेमातील गाणी तोंडावर घोळत राहतील अशी आहे. ए. आर. रहमानचे संगीत आहेत. जरी ती गाणी काहीच समजत नसली तरी म्हणावीशी वाटतात. दोघीही जणी खूप सुंदर दिसतात. या सिनेमात दोघींनी कुठेही अंग प्रदर्शन केले नाहीये. साडी किंवा पंजाबी ड्रेस मध्ये आहेत. तमिळ येत नसतानाही सिनेमा बघावा असा आहे. घरातील सगळ्या लोकांबरोबर बघण्यालायक निश्चितच आहेत.

Soumya, Minakshi a.k.a. Minu and Kamala are three sisters from a small village in Tamilnadu. They have their mother Padma and old ailing grandfather in the house. Soumya is the eldest daughter, who is taking care of their family property. They have sufficient for making a decent living with spacious house and a small temple in the yard. They also run a school and Soumya is the principal of the school. Minakshi has just finished her studies and is very much into singing. Kamala is a school student yet. 

Padma has married against her fathers wish, and he is still angry with her and not in talking terms with her. He gets sick and Padma's US based brother refused to come back and take care of him. Padma decides to forget her past trouble with dad and goes home to take care of him. Her father is so sick, that he has lost his voice, so she not able to know of he has forgiven her, but still continues to take care of him.

During this time, Soumya gets a relationship proposal from a US based person. But unfortunately on his way back to India for their engagement, this person commits suicide. She gets blames for this incidence. Later on few more proposals get rejected for some reason or another. Finally they all start thinking that her astronomical situation is not suitable. One more incidence of proposal getting fussed out, her mother starts blaming her destiny.

One more time, she is expecting another family to visit them for discussions, she is all ready to receive them. She answers the door knock and there stands Manohar, who is working as a script writer and assistant director of a movie. They are in town for shooting for a movie. And he has come to ask the family if they can rent their house for some time to shoot some sequences for the movie. But they confuse him for the prospective. In all this confusion, Manohar learns about her problems. Manohar has fallen in love at first sight. He is from a very rich family. His father runs a big business, but is unhappy with Manohar, because he is not helping him in the business and has this craze for making movies. He tells his parents about his intentions of marrying Soumya but they flatly refuse. He takes a decision at that moment. He will make his first movie and then marry Soumya. Soumya has also started liking him.

Major Bala is introduced to the family in one of the functions in the temple, He has lost one of his legs in Srilanka while working as peace keeping force. So he is retired from the service and is now running a florist and nursery business in the village. He likes Minakshi very much for her singing talents. Minakshi has sympathy for Bala but not love. For Minakshi's love, Bala stops his drinking habit. He also encourages Minakshi for singing. Minakshi is fond of the famous poet Bharathidasan. Minakshi is a independent person. Looking at Soumya's experiences with marriage, she decided that she will marry a person according to her will and not the traditional way. Minakshi meets Shrikant during this time. He has a business of his own. He is very well behaved and nice looking. He is also interested in poetry. Very soon both of them are in love with each other. Bala is disturbed due to this. But he makes up his mind. He is much elder than Minakshi anyway, so decides to be on his own and live life listening to her songs.

But destiny has her own way. Minakshi's grandfather dies during this time. Before his death, he is always pointing towards a suitcase and telling them to open. As he is not able to talk, no one really understands the meaning of this. They all think he is suggesting them to call his son from US. Finally after his death, his son Sai comes back to India with his wife to perform the rituals. After things settle down a bit they, they started looking for his will. Where did they find the will ? What was in the will ? Did Soumya marry Manohar ? Did Minakshi marry Shrikant? What does Bala do? Could Minakshi pursue her singing? Do watch "I have found it" for the answers.

This is a Tamil movie, and my Tamil language skills are null, but still I enjoined the the movie with subtitles. We enjoyed the movie, Both Tabbu and Aishwarya are good. Songs are really nice and A R Rahman's music is very good. Though I could not get the meaning of the songs, we kept on singing them. The movie is really good family movie and can be enjoined with family.

 कॅथलीन केली नावाची एक सुंदर आकर्षक, हुशार, स्वतंत्र मुलगी एक लहान मुलांचे पुस्तकाचे दुकान चालवत असते. हे दुकान तिच्या आईने सुरु केलेले असते. हे दुकान मुख्य म्हणजे वस्तीत अगदी कोपऱ्यावर असते. त्यामुळे हे दुकान खूप प्रसिद्ध असते. हि ६ वर्षाची असल्यापासून दुकानात आईला मदत करायला येत असते. त्यामुळे हिचे आयुष्य हा पुस्तकाच्या दुकानाशी निगडीत असते. या दुकानाशिवाय तिला दुसरे काहीच सुचत नाही. दुकानात आता अजून ३ लोक काम करत असतात. त्यात एक बर्डी नावाची म्हातारी स्त्री, जी कॅथलीनच्या आईच्या वेळेपासून दुकानात असते, जॉर्ज, आणि अजून एक मुलगी असे तिघे हे दुकान सांभाळत असतात. कॅथलीनने खूप पुस्तक वाचलेली असतात.

तर ह्या दुकानाच्या समोरच एक मोठा उद्योगपती ज्यो फॉक्स हा एक असेच पुस्तकांचे दुकान काढण्याचा प्रयत्न करतो. याचे दुकान खूप मोठे, सगळ्या सुखसोयी, कॉफी, खायला काही गोष्टी, शिवाय ३०% डिस्काउंट देणार असते. थोडक्यात हिचे दुकान बंद होणार अशी चिन्ह असतात.


अमेरिकन पद्धतीप्रमाणे हिचा एक बॉयफ्रेंड असतो. ते दोघे एकाच घरात राहत असतात. तो एक लेखक असतो. दोघं चांगले मित्र असतात. पण तरीही एकदा कॅथलीन इंटरनेट वर ३०+ च्या चाट रूम मध्ये जाते आणि तिची एका व्यक्तीशी ओळख होते. ते दोघे एकमेकांना इमेल करतात. त्यांचे असे ठरलेले असते, कि काही प्रायव्हेट प्रश्न विचारायचे नाहीत. पण एकूण तुमच्या मनातील प्रश्न एकमेकांबरोबर शेअर करायचे, म्हणजे हितगुज करायचे. आणि एकमेकांना भेटायला पण बोलावयाचे नाही. कथालीन shopgirl नावाने लॉगइन करत असल्याने हिचे खरे नाव कळत नाही तसेच हिचा इंटरनेट वरील मित्र NY152 या नावाने लॉगइन करत असल्याने हिलाही त्याचे नाव कळत नाही. दोघे जण एकमेकांच्या इमेलची अगदी आतुरतेने वाट बघत असतात. रोज एकमेकांना त्यांच्या जीवनातील घडामोडी सांगत असतात. काय वाचले, त्यातील काय आवडले, काय आवडले नाही, अश्या बऱ्याच गोष्टी सांगत असतात.

फॉक्स स्टोर मुळे कॅथलीन केलीच्या पुस्तकाच्या दुकानाच्या अस्तित्वाचा प्रश्न निर्माण होतो, त्यामुळे चिंतीत कॅथलीन NY152 ला भेटायचे ठरवते. एका रेस्टॉरँट मध्ये वाट बघत बसते, पण NY152 काही येत नाही. त्याच्या ऐवजी ज्यो फॉक्स येतो आणि त्या दोघांची दुकानावरून बाचाबाची होते. ही बराच वेळ वाट बघून घरी परत जाते, आणि त्याला इमेल करते. शेवटी हा इमेल करणारा नक्की कोण असतो? कॅथलीनच्या दुकानाचे काय होते हे बघा "यु गॉट मेल" मध्ये.

हा सिनेमा जेव्हा डायल अप कनेक्शन होते तेव्हाचा आहे. त्यामुळे चाट, इमेल हे सगळे नवीन होते. इंटरनेट कनेक्ट करताना होणारा मॉडेमचा आवाज सगळे कसे पुरातन वाटते. पण सिनेमा चांगला आहे. टॉम हॅन्क्सचे बहुतेक सगळेच सिनेमे वेगळ्या धाटणीचे असतात. तसाच हा आहे. कॅथलीनची भूमिका करणर्या मेग रायनने पण काम खूप चांगले केले आहे. टोम हन्क्स जेव्हा त्याच्या बरोबर आलेल्या लहान मुलांची ओळख आन्ट आणि अंकल अशी करून देतो तेव्हा मज्जा वाटते. त्यावर त्याचे "वी आर अमेरिकन फमिली" हे वाक्य खूप समर्पक वाटले.

Cathaleen Kelly is a good looking, independent and lovable lady. She is running a small bookstore called the Corner Shop in New York. This was started by her mother, but now after her mother, she is running it. It is very popular shop specially among the kids. Cathaleen has been coming to she shop with her mother since she was six years old. In a way the book store is her life, and she always keeps thinking about her shop. There are three employed in the shop, an old accountant Birdie who has been from from her mother time, a funky guy George and a girl who is studying in the college and working in the shop to earn. Cathy has read so many books and has a very good knowledge about the books and authors.

A big shop is being built very near her shop, and it turned out to be a book shop by a big industrialist Fox. Now this new book store is modern one with Coffee and Fast food shop within, big discounts on books etc. In short Cathy's bookstore is in trouble due to this new competition.

Being an American, Cathy has a boyfriend, who is a journalist and author. They are living together and happy. But once while on internet 30+ chat room, she meets a person and they start sending emails to each other. They have an understanding that they will just remain friends like this, and would not get into details of personal life. Rather will discuss issues anonymously and keep friends. Cathy has a chat name Shopgirl and this friend of hers is NY152. But due to some reason, both of them are eagerly waiting for each others emails. And keep discussing things happenings without reveling much details of their lives.

As this Fox store actually opens and Cathy starts feeling the real threat. After few weeks she actually starts comparing sales figures with the previous years and start getting worried. Over email she learns from NY152 that he is a business expert, she decides to meet him in person and discuss her problems. While waiting for NY152, Joe Fox, owner of Fox stores turns up there, and they have a verbal fight there. Finally exhausted by the fight she waits for NY152 and returns home. She emails NY152 her displeasure and frustration. Who is the person emailing her ? Does Cathy able to save her shop? What problems does Joe Fox create ? Watch this in "You got mail".

This movie was made when there still dial-up modems, and email, chat were uncommon things. In the current times it gives a vintage feel. The movie is good, like most movies of Tom Hanks. Meg Ryan as Cathy is too good. In one of the scenes when Tom Hanks introduces two small kids with him as his Aunt and Brother, it is hilarous and on top of it he says "We are a American family".
