७ खून माफ (7 khoon maaf)

सुझाना ॲन मारी एका अतिशय श्रीमंत बापाची मुलगी. हिचा मृतदेह पोलिसांना सापडतो आणि ते तिची चौकशी करतात तेव्हा कळते की हिचे पूर्वी ६ पुरुषांबरोबर लग्न झालेले आहे आणि सगळ्यांचा आकस्मिक मृत्यू झाला आहे. आता पोलिसांकडे केस आल्याने, ते तिच्या पूर्वीच्या आयुष्यात नक्की काय झाले ते न समजल्यामुळे, तरीही ६ नवर्यांचा काहीतरी घातपात मृतू झाला आहे असे वाटून तिचा या वेळी नक्की मृत्यू झाला आहे कि नाही याचा शोध घेण्याचा प्रयत्न करण्याचे ठरवतात. तिच्या मृत्यूचे सगळे पुरावे एका अरुण कुमार नावाच्या फ्लोरेन्सिक एक्सपर्ट कडे जातात. योगायोगाने हा अरुण कुमार सुझानाला लहानपणापासून ओळखत असतो. आता जरी त्याचे लग्न झालेले असले, तरी कोणे एकेकाळी, एका अनभिज्ञ वयात अरुण कुमारला सुझाना बद्दल आकर्षण असते. आता सुझाना मेली यामुळे अर्थात्तच अरुण कुमारला खूप वाईट वाटते. सगळे पुरावे शोधता शोधता त्याला पूर्वीच्या आठवणी येतात आणि खरी गोष्ट सुरु होते.

तर सुझानाचे वडील खूप श्रीमंत असतात. सुझाना लहान असतानाच हिची आई मरण पावते, त्यामुळे वडिलांशिवाय तिला दुसरे जग नसते. ती थोडी मोठी होते तोच तिचे वडील देखील मरण पावतात. आता जो पुरुष दिसेल त्याच्यात ही प्रेम शोधू लागते. हिच्या वडिलांकडे ३ विश्वासू नोकर असतात., गालिब, मॅगी, आणि गुंगाचाचा. गालिब, वडिलांचा पी ए असतो, तर मॅगी घरात सैपाक व इतर कामे बघत असते आणि गुंगा चाचा हा वडिलांच्या तबेल्याची काळजी घेत असतो. गुंगा चाचाने अरुण कुमारला मुलासारखे वाढवले असते. गुंगा चाचा नावाप्रमाणेच मुका असतो.

वडील गेल्यावर, वडिलांच्या ओळखीचा असलेला एक आर्मी ऑफिसर, मेजर एडविन रॉड्रीक्स याच्या बरोबर हिचे लग्न होते. याला अशोकचक्र मिळालेले असते, पण एका युद्धात याचा एक पाय तुटलेला असतो. आणि याने खोटा पाय लावलेला असतो. हा सुझाना बाबत खूप पझेसिव असतो. आणि याला मुल हवे असते, पण सुझानामध्ये काहीच शारीरिक कमी नसते, पण रॉड्रीक्सला हे पटत नाही. आणि त्याच्या स्वतत असलेला कमीपणा त्याला सारखा सतावत असतो. तो हिला मारहाण करतो आणि अचानक रॉड्रीक्सचा मृत्यू होतो. त्याच्या अंतिम संस्कारच्या वेळेस हिचे लक्ष जमशेद सिंग राठोड कडे जाते, हा गीटार वादक असतो, तो हिच्याशी लग्न करतो व म्हणतो कि आता माझे नाव जिमी आहे. सुझानाचे जिमी वर खूप प्रेम असते, पण ह्याला ड्रग्जचे व्यसन असते. सुझाना त्याचे व्यसन सोडवण्याचा खूप प्रयत्न करते पण तो असफल होतो, आणि अचानक त्याचा मृत्यू होतो.

दुखातून बाहेर पडायला म्हणून ही काश्मीरला जाते तिथे तिची ओळख मोहमद नावाच्या एका शायराशी होते. त्याची हळुवार शायरी, हिला भुरळ घालते, ही मोहमदशी लग्न करण्यासाठी धर्मांतरण देखील करते. जरी मोहमदच्या कविता हळुवार असतात, पण त्याचे प्रेम हे खूप हिंसक असते. तो हिला बऱ्यापैकी मारहाण करतो आणि अचानक ह्याचा मृत्यू होतो. सुझानाचे नवरे इतके कसे पटापट मृत्यू पडतात, याच्या मागे काहीतरी नक्कीच काळेबेरे असे किमतलाल नावाच्या इंस्पेक्टरला वाटत असते. पण सुझाना तिच्या सौंदर्याच्या जोरावर किमतलालला नेहमीच मार्गी लावते. आता घोड्यांच्या शर्यतीत हिचा घोडा पहिला येतो आणि मग ही बक्षीस घ्यायला जाते आणि तिथे निकोलाई व्रोन्स्कीच्या प्रेमात पडते.

गुंगाचाचा कडे राहत असलेला अरुण कुमार ह्याच्या शिक्षणाची सगळी जबाबदारी सुझानाने घेतलेली असते. निकोलाई हा रशियन असतो, त्याच्याकडे अरुण कुमारला रशियाच्या एका युनिवर्सिटी मध्ये अडमिशन मिळवून देण्याची गोष्ट करते. सुझानाच्या प्रेमाखातर तो अरुण कुमारला रशियात घेऊन जातो. अचानक अरुण कुमार कळते कि निकोलाईचे लग्न झालेले आहे आणि त्याची रशियात एक बायको देखील आहे. सुझानाला जेव्हा कळते तेव्हा अचानक निकोलाईचा मृत्यू होतो. निकोलाई हा रशियन असल्याने त्याच्या मृत्यूची चौकशी जास्त डिटेल मध्ये होऊ लागते. त्या चौकशी साठी किमतलालचे घरी वारंवार घरी येणे सुरु होते. या चौकशीत सुझाना अडकणार, हे सुझानाला कळते, त्यातून वाचण्यासाठी सुझाना एकदा त्याच्याबरोबर एक रात्र घालवते. किमतलाल मग सारखा सारखा हिच्याकडे येऊ लागतो आणि शेवटी कंटाळून सुझाना त्याच्याशी लग्न करते आणि थोड्याच दिवसात त्याचा मृत्यू होतो.

या सगळ्या प्रकाराला कंटाळून सुझाना शेवटी आत्महत्या करण्याचे ठरवते. ती आत्महत्या करायला एका गाडीच्या समोर जाऊन उभी राहते आणि तिला अपघात होतो. त्या अपघातातून तिला मोधू वाचवतो. याला औषधी वनस्पतीबद्दल खूप माहिती असते. तो खूप चांगला असतो, सुझानाला वाटते की तिला हवा असणारा पुरुष आता तिला मिळाला आहे, आणि ती मोधूशी लग्न करते.. पण थोड्याच दिवसात मोधूचा मृत्यू होतो. आता मात्र तिचा या जगावरील विश्वास उडतो आणि ती स्वत:ला गोळ्या घालून आत्महत्या करते. आता तिच्या मृतदेह आणि त्या बरोबर असलेले पुरावे पोलिसांकडे आलेले असतात, आणि त्याची चौकशी अरुण कुमार करत असतो.

अरुण कुमारला चौकशीत नक्की काय आढळून येते? सुझाना तिच्या नवऱ्याचे खून कश्या प्रकारे करते, हे बघा "७ खून माफ" मध्ये. सिनेमा ठीक आहे. लहान मुलांना घेऊन बघण्यासारखा निश्चित नाही. ३ तास सिनेमा प्रेक्षकांना कंटाळा येऊ देत नाही. पण सिनेमा बघितलाच पाहिजे असा काही नाही. सगळे नवरे, आणि त्यांच्या खुनाचे प्लॉट चांगले रंगवले आहेत. सिनेमाचा शेवट खूपच वेगळा आहे.

Suzana is a daughter of a very rich person. Her dead body is found and the police are trying to investigate the matter. They find out that she was married to six different men at different points in time and all men have died untimely. This makes the case very complicated, they need to find if her death is natural or there is something fishy in this incidence too. So they want to check the reality behind the whole episode. Arun Kumar is the officer in charge of the forensic analysis of this case. A sheer coincidence is this Arun Kumar knows Suzana from his childhood. Now he is happily married, but at young age, he had a crush on her. With the news of Suzana's death Arun Kumar is very sad and while investigating this case he is remembering his olden days spend around and with Suzana.

Suzana's dad was a very rich person. His mother died when Suzana was very young. For her the whole world now is her dad. But she lost her dad before she was twenty. Now she is looking for love in any man she comes in contact with. Her dad had three employees in his home. Galib who is a personal assistant and accountant, Magi is cook and care taker of the home and Gunga Uncle is in charge of the Horse Stable. Gunga has adapted Arun Kumar in very young age. Susana married her fathers friend who was an army officer Major Edwin Rodrigs, conferred with bravery medals. But in the war, he has lost one of his legs and has an artificial one. Rodrigs is very possessive about Suzana. He also has a major inferiority complex of his handicap. He drinks a lot and beats Suzana at times. One day all of a sudden Rodrigs dies. During his last rites Suzana meets Jamshed Sing Rathod a guitarist. They got along well and soon decide to get married. He becomes Jimmy and they are in deep love for some time. But Jimmy has one problem, he is drug addict. Suzana tries to treat him for his addiction, but she fails. And Jimmy too dies soon.

Suzana is in shock after Jimmy's death and decides to travel to Kashmir to change the atmosphere around her. She meets Mohamad in Kashmir who is a poet. His soft poetry really touches Suzana and again she falls for him. She marries him by accepting Islam. Though Mohamad's poetry was very soft and loving, his love making was very violent and aggressive. He likes beating and hitting her. He too dies and now police department starts feeling foul play in all this. Kimmatlal was the officer put on this investigation. He probes the case for several weeks, visits Suzana's home several times for that. Suzana just uses her looks and manages to keep Kimatlal away from real investigations. One of her horse wins a major race in the region and during the felicitation she meets Nickolai.

Nickolai is a Russian and he starts spending lot of time with Suzana. Arun Kumar was young man by this time and Suzana requests him to get Arun admitted in some good Russian university. After Nickolai's marriage with Suzana, he takes Arun Kumar to Russia for his admission. During this time Arun Kumar learns that Nickolai is already maried in Russia with children. He conveys this to Suzana and on Nickolai's return from Russia he too dies. Now him being a foreign citizen, there is a larger trouble for Suzana. Kimatlal is again back for investigations. Kimatlal is now making progress and seems like Suzana would be in big trouble. To manage this situation she sleeps with Kimatlal. Now Kimatlal starts frequenting her place at odd hours, and finally she decides to marry him, to keep herself out of trouble. He too dies of heart attack one night.

Now Suzana is fed up with life and attempts suicide. She jumps in front of a fast car and the car hits her and runs away. But Modhu saves her life by treating her. He is a herbal physician. He is a very loving and caring person and Suzana feels better very soon. During this course she starts feeling that Modhu was the kind of person she was looking for, all her life. She marries Modhu now, but unfortunately he dies in few weeks. Now she shoots herself and her body with all the evidences are in front of Arun Kumar. He is the forensic expert the police department is relying on now to know the truth behind her life.

What did Arun Kumar find in his investigations? Does she really kill her husbands and if yes how does she manages all this? Watch "Saat Khun Maf" for that. Do not watch this with kids. This is not really a must watch type movie, but enjoyable with interesting story line, plot and script. The movie ends with a bit of surprise.

न्यूयॉर्क (New York)

या सिनेमाची स्टोरी आधारित आहे ९/११ नंतर झालेल्या अमेरिकेतील मुसलमानांच्या आयुष्यातील बदलाची. सिनेमाची सुरवात ओमार अजीजला एफ बी. आय. चा एजंट रोशन त्याच्या गाडीमध्ये बंदुका सापडल्याच्या आरोपातून पकडून नेतो आणि त्याला त्याच्या मित्राची (सँम) जासुसी करायला भाग पाडतो. ओमार आधी तयार होत नाही पण नंतर, माझा मित्र टेररिस्ट असूच शकत नाही, हे सिद्ध करण्यासाठी मी हे काम करीन असे म्हणून ओमार तयार होतो.



ओमार हा दिल्लीतून स्कॉलरशिप मिळवून न्यूयॉर्क स्टेट युनिवर्सिटी मध्ये MS करायला येतो. तिथे त्याची माया आणि समीर शेख यांच्याशी खूप घट्ट मैत्री होते. ओमारचे मायावर एकतर्फी प्रेम असते. माया मात्र सुरवातीपासूनच समीर उर्फ सॅमवर प्रेम करत असते. ओमारला मात्र याची काहीच कल्पना नसते. सॅम आणि माया ह्या दोघांचे पूर्वज जरी भारतीय असले तर ते आता अमेरिकनच असतात. ओमार आता या दोघांच्या नजरेतून अमेरिका बघायला शिकतो आणि त्याला इकडे मनोमन आवडायला लागते.



असेच एका दिवशी हे तिघे जण पार्टीतून बाहेर पडताना, मायाची पर्स चोरीला जाते, सॅम त्या चोराला पकडण्याच्या भानगडीत जखमी होतो, आणि या दोघांचे एकमेकांवर असलेले प्रेम ओमार समोर उघड होते. याचा ओमारला खूप धक्का बसतो. दुसऱ्या दिवशी सकाळी नेहमीप्रमाणे ओमार कॉलेजला जातो, पण त्यांच्या नशिबात वेगळेच काहीतरी वाढून ठेवलेले असते, त्याच दिवशी ट्वीन टॉवर वर टेररिस्ट हल्ला होऊन त्या बिल्डींग कोसळतात. अमेरिकत असलेल्या मुसलमानांवर संशयाने बघायला सुरवात होते. अश्या भूतकाळानंतर, ओमार, सँम व माया यांच्या वाटा वेगळ्या होतात आणि त्यांचा एकमेकांशी संबंध राहत नाही. ओमार हा टॅक्सी मालक होतो. आणि टॅक्सीच्या व्यवसायात असतानाच ओमारला FBI पकडून नेते.



FBI चा एजंट रोशन, ह्याच्याकडे सॅमला पकडण्याचा व्यवस्थित प्लॅन असतो. त्या प्लॅननुसार ओमारला सॅमच्या घरात राहायचे, आणि त्याच्यावर बारीक लक्ष ठेवून FBI ला माहिती पुरवायची, कि सॅम काय टेररिस्ट काम करत आहे. ओमार सॅमकडे शिफ्ट होतो. आता इतक्या वर्ष्यानी भेटल्यानंतर सगळ्यांचे आयुष्य बदलले असते, सॅम व मायाला एक दान्या नावाचा मुलगा असतो. ओमरला त्याच्या घरात काहीही संशय घेण्यालायक दिसत नाही. जेव्हा हे रोशनला समजते, तेव्हा रोशन वेगळा प्लॅन करतो, आणि त्या प्लॅन मध्ये यश येते. ओमारला कळते कि सम आता टेररिस्ट झाला आहे. आणि त्याचा एक मोठी बिल्डींग उडवण्याचा प्लान आहे. या प्लॅन मध्ये सॅम यशस्वी होतो का, FBI सॅमचे काय करते, असे काय होते सॅमच्या आयुष्यात की ज्यामुळे सॅम टेररिस्ट होतो, हे बघा "न्यूयॉर्क" मध्ये.



सिनेमा "चांगला" या विभागात निश्चितच मोडता येईल. फोटोग्राफी छान आहे. सगळ्यांनी काम छान केले आहे. सिनेमाचा शेवट मात्र दुखद आहे, पण तो तसा अपेक्षितच आहे. सिनेमातील गाणी चांगली आहेत. सगळ्या कुटुंबांनी एकत्र बघायला हरकत नाही असा आहे. काही सीन लहानमुलांना त्रासदायक ठरू शकतात, पण चालू शकतील. जसे भारतात, महात्मा गांधीच्या हत्येनंतर ब्राह्मणांवर झाले, नंतर इंदिरा गांधीच्या हत्येनंतर, शिखांवर झाले तसेच ९/११ अमेरिकेत मुसलमानांवर कसे अत्याचार झाले हे सिनेमाच्या शेवटी, काही वाक्यांत सांगण्यात येते. पण अमेरिकेसारख्या प्रगत देशात पण मानवी प्रवृत्ती तीच आहे हे बघून आश्चर्य वाटते.

This a story showing how lives of Muslims changed after 9/11 in the United States of America. The movie open with Omar Aziz being arrested by FBI agent Roshan, on the pretext of carrying guns in his car. Then to release Omar without court case, Roshan prepares him to spy on Sam, his college time friend. Omar initially resents, saying his friend can never be a terrorist. Finally he agrees to do spying just to prove that his friend is indeed not a terrorist.

Omar is originally from Delhi, and he joins New York State University for his Masters Degree. He meets Maya and Samir Sheikh aka Sam, and three of them become really good friends. Omar has a one way crush on Maya, but Maya and Sam are in love already, which Omar is not aware of. Both Sam and Maya are of Indian origin but born and brought up in US. With the friendship, Omar learns the American way of life from his friends, and starts enjoying the life there.



One day while returning from a party, Maya's handbag is snatched by a thief, and in the event of catching the thief and recovering the bag, Sam is injured a bit. That was the time, Omar discovers the deep love relationship between Sam and Maya. Omar is shocked by this, but he is trying to recover from this. Next day Omar goes to the University as usual, but the destiny takes a turn. Twin Towers in New York were attacked on that day, and whole course of life changes for them. The incidence changes the way Muslims in US are treated for some time. There is a fear of suspicion around most of them. He looses contact with Sam and Maya. He settles down in New York and gets into Taxi business. After a while he is arrested on charges of carrying guns in his vehicle.



FBI agent Roshan has a plan to fix Sam. He wants Omar to get into Sam's house and stay with him. This will give Omar a great opportunity to spy Sam on regular basis. He should keep FBI updated on kind of activities Sam is doing and weather he is involved in terrorism. Omar manages to go and stay with Sam and Maya. They have a son named Danny. He could not find anything suspicious happening at his place. Roshan changes plan and puts Omar to work with Sam. After that Omar discovers, that Sam is indeed involved in some terrorism activities and is working on a plan to blow away a big building. Whether Sam is able to complete his plan, if Omar conveys this so FBI, if FBI is able to get hold of Sam needs to be watched in the movie "New York"



This movie is good, and a family movie. Scores well on both acting and photography. Some of the stunts with John Abraham and Neil Nitin Mukesh are good. A bit sad but positively ending movie. Can be watched by kids with exceptions of few scenes. Songs are good and catchy. It was disturbing to see how some innocent people are tortured by government agencies in the process of trying to control terrorism, even in developed nations like US.

जेल (JAIL)

ही गोष्ट आहे "पराग मनोहर दीक्षित" याने जेल मध्ये घालवलेल्या वास्तव्याची. तर गोष्ट अशी आहे की, पराग मनोहर दीक्षित हा एका चांगल्या कंपनी मध्ये रिजनल डायरेक्टर म्हणून नोकरी करत असतो. हा अत्यंत हुशार आणि कष्टाळू असतो. गुन्हेगारी वृत्तीचा मागमूस देखील याच्या मनात कधीच नसतो. याचे मानसी नावाच्या एक एयर होस्टेस वर प्रेम असते. दोघेही एकमेकांवर मनापासून प्रेम करत असतात पराग एका मित्राबरोबर "केशव राठोड" बरोबर राहत असतो. केशव हा एका कार कंपनीमध्ये सेल्स मॅनेजर असतो. केशव, हा पराग च्या सगळ्याच वस्तू वापरत असतो, अगदी मोबाईल पासून ते टॉवेल पर्यंत. परागला त्याचे काहीच वाटत नसते. थोडक्यात सांगायचे म्हणजे या दोघांची खूप मैत्री असते, आणि परागचा केशववर विश्वास असतो.


तर एक दिवस परागला केशव फोन करतो आणि त्याला ऑफिसमधून लिफ्ट मागतो. दोघे येत असताना पोलिसांची गाडी त्यांचा पाठलाग करू लागतो. पराग गोंधळून जातो, गाडी हळू करतो, तर केशव त्याला गाडी हळू न करण्याचा सल्ला देतो, पण त्याच दरम्यान पोलीस त्यांना गाठतात. पोलिसांनी पकडल्याबरोबर केशव पोलिसांवर गोळीबार करतो. परागला काहीच समजत नाही नक्की काय होतंय, पोलीस गोळीबारात केशव जखमी होतो, परागच्या गाडीची झडती घेतली जाते आणि नको ते घडते, केशवने त्या गाडीत ड्रग्स ठेवलेले असतात. पोलीस परागला पकडून जेलमध्ये टाकते. पराग निरपराधी असतो, पण पोलिसांपुढे तो ते सिद्ध करू शकत नाही.


मानसी व परागची आई, वकील ठरवतात. परागला निदान बेल वर तरी बाहेर येत येईल, असा विश्वास वकील त्यांना देतो. वकिलांची भरमसाठ फी द्यायची पण  कबुल करतात. वकील केस लढतो, पण परागला बेल मिळत नाही. त्याची केस कोर्टात दाखल होते आणि त्याला १० वर्ष सक्त मजुरीची शिक्षा मिळते. त्याच्या केसचा निकाल लागायलाच २ वर्ष लागतात. त्यात त्याला बेल तर मिळतच नाही.


या २ वर्ष्यातील त्याच्या जेलच्या वास्तव्यात त्याला बरेच अनुभव येतात. जेल मध्ये सक्त मजुरीची शिक्षा भोगत असलेला, पण मनोवृत्तीने गुन्हेगार नसलेला "नबाब" नावाचे पत्र सूत्रधाराचे काम करतो. नबाब परागला जेलमधील बऱ्याच गोष्टी समजावून सांगतो. त्याची स्वताची गोष्ट सांगतो, तो कसा काय जेल मध्ये आला.

परागला स्वताला खूप आशा असते, की त्याला बेल मिळेल आणि तो बाहेर येईल, पण तसे होत नाही. उलट केशव राठोड जो पोलीस गोळीबारात जखमी झालेला असतो व कोमात गेलला असतो,  त्याचे निधन होते. परागला जो सोडवू शकत असतो त्याचेच निधन होते त्यामुळे परागच्या सगळ्याच आशा मावळतात. त्यातच, एक गुन्हेगार, ज्याने दारू पिऊन गाडी चालवल्याने ६ लोकांचा मृत्यू झालेला असतो, तो बेल वर सुटतो. हे बघून परागचा तोल जातो व पराग त्याला बेदम मारतो. परिस्थितीने गांजून गेलेला पराग, खूप हिंस्त्र होतो. पण नबाब तरी त्याच्या पाठीशी उभा असतो. मानसीला खूप मोठ्या कंपनीमध्ये अमेरिकेत नोकरी मिळते. मानसीने ती नोकरी करावी असे परागला वाटते, कारण त्याच्याजवळील सगळीच आशा संपलेली असते. त्यात त्याला १० वर्ष सक्त मजुरीची शिक्षा मिळते. शेवटी पराग हा निरपराध आहे हे सिद्ध होते का?, मानसी त्याला सोडून जाते का ? हे बघा "जेल" मध्ये.


जेल मध्ये असलेले गुन्हेगार २ प्रकारात मोडतात. एक म्हणजे अट्टल गुन्हेगार, जे जेल मध्ये राहून देखील दादागिरी करणे, जेल मध्ये राहून देखील बाहेरील गुन्हे घडवून आणणे अश्या गोष्टी करत असतात. दुसरा प्रकार म्हणजे, ज्यांनी रागाच्या भारत, किंवा चुकीने गुन्हा केला आहे, पण आता पश्चाताप करीत शिक्षा भोगत आहेत. सगळ्याच गुन्हेगारांनी आशा कधीच सोडलेली नसते हे पण या सिनेमात दाखवले आहे. जेल मधून बाहेर पडण्यासाठी काय काय गोष्टी केल्या जातात याची पण बर्यापैकी माहिती मिळते. 



मला स्वताला हा सिनेमा खूप आवडला. सिनेमा बऱ्यापैकी दुखद आहे. पराग आता कधीच बाहेर पडू शकणार नाही असे वाटायला लागते, पण तरी सिनेमात आशेचा किरण आहे. एकूण जेलमधील गुन्हेगारांची अवस्था बघितल्यावर वाईट नक्कीच वाटते. पावसाळ्यात जेल मध्ये खूप जास्त गुन्हेगार येतात, कारण जे लोक फुटपाथवर राहतात, त्यांना पावसाळ्यात जेल मध्ये राहणे हे सोयीचे आहे हे वाक्य ऐकून अंगावर शहारा येतो व भारतात लोकसंख्या खूपच प्रमाणात वाढते आहे याची मनाला कुठेतरी जाणीव होते. सिनेमात काही दृश्ये थोडीशी भडक आहेत, पण तो सोडता सिनेमा सगळ्यांनी बघण्यासारखा आहे. म्हणजे १४ वर्ष्यावरील मुलांनी हा सिनेमा बघायला हरकत नाही असे मला वाटते.


तुम्ही सिनेमा बघितला असल्यास, किंवा मी जे काही लिहिले आहे त्यावर काही प्रतिक्रिया दिल्या तर निश्चित छान वाटेल.

This a story of Parag Manohar Dixit and his life in jail. Parag is an executive with a renowned company and is recently promoted to regional director's post. He is a bright and hardworking person, very sincere in his work. He is a gentleman and god fearing. He is in love with Manasi who is flight attendant / air - hostess with an airline company. Parag is staying with a friend Keshav Rathod. Keshav is a sales manager with a car sales company. Both are good friends, but Keshav has a bad habit of using everything that belongs to Parag from Mobile phone to bath towels. Bus since they have good mutual trust, Parag always ignores these small things.

One evening as Parag is leaving for home from office, he receives a call from Keshav, requesting him to pick him up in his car on the way home. After few minutes of picking him up, a car starts chasing them, and they quickly realize that is was a police car. Parag is scared and being a straightforward person, slows down his car. Keshav suggests him the reverse, and tells him to speed up and escape. In the meantime Police car overtakes them and stops them. Before Parag could realize anything Keshav jumps out of the car and tries to run. He takes out a revolver and shoots at Police. Parag is stunned with all this and freezes on the spot. Keshav is injured in the encounter and Parag is arrested. Police seize drugs from the car. Keshav was carrying high quantity of drugs worth hundreds of thousand rupees. Parag is arrested under drug trafficking and put in custody. Though Parag is innocent he has no way to prove it, but to wait for Keshav to gain conscious and talk it out.   

Parag's mother and Manasi try hard to get him out of custody. They hire a good lawyer. Lawyer assures them that he will be granted bail soon. He charges huge amount of fees for this. The lawyer tries, but not successful to get bail and Parag is sent to jail. Finally the case hearing begins, and goes on for two years, in which time Parag does not get bail and finally he is given 10 years of rigorous  imprisonment. 

This movie is mostly about these 2 years, and Parag's experiences in the jail. There is a senior prisoner called Nawab. He is a under long term imprisonment but is a nice person by nature. He mentors Parag about the life in jail. He also narrates his own story on how he landed up in jail for such a long term. 

There are two types of prisoners in Jail. Some are real prisoners, who are trying to dominate within jail too, and have links outside and still involved in the underworld world outside. The other type is of those who have committed crime in spurt of a moment, and now are repenting for that moment. But irrespective of the type, all are hopeful of getting out of the jail one day, and lead their life outside. The movie gives lot of insights in the life within jail. 

All along this, Parag is also hopeful of getting released on bail and also proven innocent. But the person accompanying Parag, Keshav Rathod, who is in coma in the encounter with Police officers, dies in hospital. This was Parag's last hope of release. This frustrates Parag a lot. In the meantime, a prisoner inmate, who is very wealthy and is in jail for drunk driving and killing 6 people in road accident. This person gets bail and Parag looses his patience and in frustration beats up this prisoner. Nawab helps him in all the bad patches, because he always believed that Parag is innocent and a good person by nature. During this time, Manasi gets a good break with an American company. Parag has lost all hopes of his release, so he advises Manasi ti take up the job. Is Parag proved innocent ? Does Manasi go for the high flying job ? Needs to be watched in the movie "Jail".

The movie is well made by Madhur Bhandarkar. The whole episode is sad and highlights some dark sides of todays society, but throughout the movie, there is always a ray of hope depicted nicely by the director. In one scene there are suddenly lot of prisoner brought in the jail and a seasoned prisoner remarks, since it is beginning of rainy season, many homeless commit small crimes and make sure they are jailed, just to escape the harsh weather outside. This highlights population related problems in metro cities in India. The movie has some scenes not fit for children, but should be make a good family movie for grown up kids and adults. 

The movie leaves a fact in our minds at the end the factual numbers of prisoners are shown.  "Out of 3.73 lakh prisoners in india, 2.45 lakhs have not yet been found guilty. They may be innocent...". We need to think over it.
