एका खेडेगावात एक शेतमजूर असलेल्या कौसल्याबाई उर्फ कोंडाबाईला १ मुलगा १ मुलगी. नवरा साप चावून गेल्याने ही एकटीच दोन्ही मुलांचा सांभाळ करत असते. पण शेतावर काम करून खूप पैसे मिळत नसल्याने, पोट भरण्याची मारामार. त्यामुळे ती मुलांना शाळेत घालू न शकल्याने दोन्ही मुलं खूप व्रात्य आणि दंगा करणारी असतात. त्यात मुलगी इंदू आता जरा मोठी झाल्याने तिला शेतावर काम करायला कोंडाबाई घेऊन जात असत. पण मुलगा भाऊराव दिवसभर खूप खोड्या काढत गावात फिरत. रोज संध्याकाळी घरी आली की, हिला भाऊराव बद्दल काहीतरी तक्रार ऐकायला मिळत असे. रोज भाऊरावला मार मिळत असत. गावातील एक सज्जन गृहस्थ, कोंडाबाईला समजावतात की मुलांना शाळेत घायला हवे, त्यांना शिक्षण घ्यायला हवे. कोंडाबाईच्या मते ती फक्त भाऊरावला शाळेत घालेल, कारण रोज दिवसभर त्याच्या तक्रारी येतात, दिवसभर शाळेत त्या राहिल्याने बंद होतील. शेवटी भाऊराव शाळेत दाखल होतो. त्याच्या जन्मदाखला मिळवायला जरा कष्ट पडतात, पण शेवटी हा शाळेत दाखल होतो.
शाळेत दाखल तर होतो, पण शाळेत एक भोबडा मास्तर म्हणून शिक्षक असतात, ते मुलांना खूप मारत असतात. या शिक्षकाची सगळ्यांना भीती वाटत असते. त्यात भाऊरावला हा शिक्षक घरून डाळ आणि तांदूळ घेऊन यायला सांगतो. घरी इतकी वाईट परिस्थिती असते की भाऊराव काही घरी आईला याबद्दल सांगत नाही. याचे शाळेत लक्ष कमी आणि मास्तरांची भीती जास्त अशी स्थिती असते.
बरेच दिवस झाले तरी भाऊराव डाळ आणि तांदूळ आणत नाही, असे बघून एक दिवस भोबडा मास्तर भाऊरावला पट्टीने बेदम मारतो. भाऊरावचे अंग काळेनिळे होते. भाऊरावला याचा खूप त्रास होतो. दुसऱ्या दिवशी भाऊराव वर्गात जाऊन भोबडा मास्तरला जोरात एक दगड मारतो. आणि या प्रकारानंतर भोबडा मास्तर नोकरी सोडून निघून जातो. त्याचबरोबर भाऊरावची शाळा देखील बंद होते. भाऊराव पुन्हा गावात खोड्या काढत फिरू लागतो. या सगळ्या प्रकाराने, कोंडाबाई खूप वैतागते आणि भाऊरावला शेतावर काम करायला घेऊन जाते.पण त्याच दरम्यान शाळेत एक दुसरा शिक्षक येतो अरुण देशमुख. हा मास्तर भाऊरावला शाळेत यायला सांगतो पण भाऊराव शाळेत जायला तयार नसतो. मग भाऊराव शाळेत जातो का ? त्याला देशमुख मास्तर कश्या प्रकारे शिक्षण देतात, हे बघा "जिंकी रे जिंकी" या सिनेमात.
सिनेमातील बहुतेक सगळे कलाकार नवीन आहेत. सिनेमाची थीम जरी चांगली असली, तरी सिनेमाचे दिग्दर्शन अजिबात नीट झाले नाहीये. बऱ्याच गोष्टींचा एकमेकांशी काहीच संबध नाही असे संवाद आणि सीन आहेत. सिनेमातील कलाकारांची अक्टिंग पण अगदीच सुमार आहे. एकूणच सिनेमा अतिशय कंटाळवाणा आहे. मी ज्या वेबसाईटवरून हा सिनेमा बघितला तिथे, जरी हा सिनेमा "Must Watch " अश्या विभागात टाकला असला तरी माझ्या मते हा सिनेमा "Must Not watch" या विभागात घालायला हवा. या सिनेमाला बरेच अवार्ड मिळालेले आहेत. पण तरी देखील सिनेमा आम्हाला आवडला नाही .तुमच्या प्रतिक्रिया जरूर लिहा.

८. भाऊ गावंडे यांच्या "प्रकाशाच्या उंबरठ्यावर" या कादंबरीवर आधारित.
Kausalyabai alias Kondabai is a farm laborer. She has two children, elder daughter is Indu and younger son is Bhaurao. Her husband has died few years back by snake bite. Kondabai is having hard time managing family of three with her income. Indu is also accompanying Kondabai on the farm to help get some support for the family income. Bhaurao wonders in the village with few more kids, who do not attend school and keeps creating troubles. Many days, in the evening Kondabai has to listen to complains from villagers, and ultimately Bhaurao gets beating from her.
One day a village leader approaches Kondabai requesting her to admit both her children to school. Kondabai finally decides to admit Bhaurao, since Indu is helping her in work. She manages to approximate his birth date and get birth certificate, and admit him in the school.
There is a teacher called Bhobade Master, he is a terror for children. Bhaurao has earlier seen him beating children, so he is already scared of him. Master demands Bhaurao to get Rice and Millet for him, but since Bhaurao is poor, he did not tell this message to his mother at all. Bhaurao is not learning much, due to this terror in him mind and the whimsical behavior of the teacher.
After few days, master asks Bhaurao about the Rice and Millet he told him to bring, and Bahurao tells him that is not possible. Furious master beats him with a ruler till principle of the school had to intervene. Bhaurao suffers this beating and is really upset with this incidence. Next day, again master picks up some reason to attack Bahurao, but this time Bahurao is prepared and he hit Master back with a stone. Master is injured and Bhaurao is rusticated from the school. After a while master quits the school and leaved the village. Bhaurao is back to his naughty company and starts bringing complains every day. Finally Kondabai decides to take him to farm every day.
After a few days, Deshmukh master joins the school. He invites Bhaurao back to school. But Bhaurao is adamant and does not want to go back to school due to the incidences in him recent past. Was Deshmukh master able to convince Bhaurao, or he not is to be watched in the movie.It has a really nice theme, but the my opinion is the director has failed to deliver. The actors are all not well known yet. The movie is like an experimental movie made by some students of film school. If you have not watched it, you need not but by chance of you have watched it, please do write your opinion in the comments section below. In spite of being awarded for a good film ( as mentioned below), I did not like the movie.
